The Burning Bush: When God Calls Your Name

Moses had once lived in a palace, but now he tended sheep in the wilderness. Forty years had passed since he fled Egypt. The dreams of deliverance seemed distant.

Then, on an ordinary day, something extraordinary happened.

A bush caught fire — but it was not consumed.

Curious, Moses turned aside to look. And from the flames, God called his name: “Moses, Moses.”

This was not just a miracle; it was a calling.

God revealed His plan — to send Moses back to Egypt to deliver His people from slavery. The very place Moses had run from would become the place of his assignment.

Moses hesitated. He questioned his ability. He doubted his strength. But God responded with a promise, not a qualification:

“I will be with you.”

The burning bush reminds us:

  • God often meets us in ordinary places.

  • Divine calling can interrupt routine.

  • Feeling unqualified does not disqualify you.

  • God’s presence is the key to fulfilling purpose.

The bush burned without being consumed — a symbol that when God’s power rests upon you, you can endure the fire without being destroyed.

Sometimes, your wilderness is not punishment — it is preparation.
